this is a rapidly overlooked component of what’s going on the Olympics is dealing with a lot of transphobia right now, and it’s terrible for the cis people it’s happening to but being compared to a trans person is, like… not a bad thing it’s the TRANSPHOBIA that’s bad don’t get it twisted

I tried to read the latest story about Gaiman and I just... could not. The original transcript was so viscerally, horribly familiar that it made me sick. Seeing people on the timeline trying to justify the behavior as consensual made it worse. We still have so much to learn about power.

One day I hope we live in a land where the social safety net isn’t Flavor Flav paying your rent.

Sharing from a post @kharyrandolph.bsky.social did on FB that I thought could benefit being here too (Khary, if you see this and want me to delete it because you want to post it here yourself or just want to keep control of this convo on your FB, just say the word)

To be clear, I was one of a number of artists that had meetings with Colin a few months ago. He told me broadly what his AI platform was about. He mentioned that it was about removing "gatekeepers" and how he wanted to benefit people from underserved walks of life. I told him that while I was a fan of his, I couldn't support this because those "gatekeepers" were people like me who had put our blood, sweat and tears into our craft. Hard work, a pencil, and paper is all you need to make comics. I let him that his product was going to hurt us longterm.

So if anyone is asking whether Colin Kaepernick is aware of the misgivings artists have with AI, please believe that he has been made aware. And I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who did so.

How AI weirdos sound to me tbh

A two panel meme of Bilbo from LotR

In panel one he’s caressing the ring, entranced by it. The text reads: “after all.. why not?”

In panel two he’s looking down at the ring either a dangerous determination. The text reads, “why shouldn’t I use AI instead of practicing to make art myself”

If I may be frank: too many leftists are looking for absolution of the sin of being American, rather than the power to effect concrete changes. If it's absolution you want, get religion. There's work to be done otherwise.

so this voter fraud

The website says it will help the viewer register to vote. But once a user clicks "Register to Vote," the experience he or she will have can be very different, depending on where they live. If a user lives in a state that is not considered competitive in the presidential election, like California or Wyoming for example, they'll be prompted to enter their email addresses and zip code and then directed quickly to a voter
registration page for their state, or back to the original sign up section. But for users who enter a zip code that indicates they live in a battleground state, like Pennsylvania or Georgia, the process is very different. Rather than be directed to their state's voter registration page, they instead are directed to a highly detailed personal information form, prompted to enter their address, cell phone number, and age. If they agree to submit all that, the system still does not steer them to a voter
registration page. Instead, it shows them a "thank you" page.
