I saw the movie tonight with a big nerd friend who’s only knowledge of the TFs are the Bay films. And he was expecting a lot of action. He wasn’t prepared for an actually good story about caste systems and friendships lost. He asked me: “Is this what Transformers is actually like?” Yes. Yes it is.

Both Bumblebee & One are really good movies, and RotB is okay. But together, they’re barely breaking even. I mentioned this earlier but between the anti-jingoism, creepy Bay sexism of movies 2-5, I think the damage has been done to the franchise. It might be wise to focus elsewhere for a while.
