I sort of forgot about Second Life. I'm not sure how that's doing in 2024, but I suspect it's past its prime. Even if it is in a healthy place, it is still worlds more open and less corporate friendly than anyone who says "sandbox social experience" unironically in 2024

I feel like whenever I see that I'm reminded that the time that was popular was over 25 years ago when it was novel to talk to strangers on the internet -- with some oddball corner exceptions like VR Chat

1 and 4 are the series' biggest scares (I'm setting P.T. aside, though I'd argue that hits new heights) I think both of those hit that unsettling factor more readily and embrace it.
