He never wanted to do the job of president, he's fundamentally lazy. I'm convinced the reason he did so much with tariffs and pardons wasn't because he especially cared, it's because they were the things he found just *do* without anyone telling him there's a process (i.e., work.)

I think he does want to *be* President. He doesn’t want to have to do the work to get there or the work the job requires. He’s never worked a day in his pathetic life and he’s not about to start now. He wants everything he gets as easy as possible and eff anyone who tries to get in his way.

I don't think he's *ever* wanted to be president. He ran as a publicity stunt and as a fuck you to Obama and stumbled into the Republican nomination because none of the other candidates knew how to counter him. Winning was never the plan but his ego won't let him back down.
