Ah but Jonn, you see you wouldn't understand - he's a *high decoupler* you see?! Very special. Very big brained stuff. Hardly anyone can actually do that, honest. Removing ideas from all context, I mean - brilliant stuff! Now where's me Ket?

Most of the headline-grabbing copyright battles over the past few years have been over AI. But the Internet Archive is fighting its own war over copyright—and it's in grave danger. www.wired.com/story/intern...

The Internet Archive’s Fight to Save Itself

The web’s collective memory is stored in the servers of the Internet Archive. Legal battles threaten to wipe it all away.

All of the first years I have taught this week were born several years after SPACED the TV series aired.

On 2nd point - we're at the level of public discourse that my local fb groups are ridden with normal people flipping out about being tracked by local traffic survey camerasm some as a prelude to '15 minute cities zomg!' But some just because. I don't think we're capable of real debate atm. (2/2)

I've been pondering the motorway toll thing. Linked to development of actual alternatives, I really think it'd pay dividends. But it's getting out of the infrastructure ditch we're in / convincing ppl of the long term view. (1/2)

A quick reminder that the official campaign line, from the Conservative chair and CCHQ, as recently as ten months ago, was a joke note left behind by a Labour minister fourteen years previously. ~AA

I mean - you got pile-ons in forums. Flame wars in usenet. There's a level of dehumanisation in the medium allowing you to let rip (and people to go way overboard if they have the personality for it). At the moment it doesn't seem geared to perpetuate it or make it spread. Which I think is good.

More bubble-ish yes. But that's because it isn't trying to push anything at me. I've selected what I'm interested in, it's calmer generally. But I wonder how that will survive monetisation.
