I mean - you got pile-ons in forums. Flame wars in usenet. There's a level of dehumanisation in the medium allowing you to let rip (and people to go way overboard if they have the personality for it). At the moment it doesn't seem geared to perpetuate it or make it spread. Which I think is good.
