There is precedent. On April 18, 1930, the BBC's news announcer announced, "There is no news." The Beeb broadcast piano music for the rest of the 15-minute news segment. A lot of today's "news" talking heads could be replaced by piano music. "Chopsticks" on repeat would be better than some.
