Finally it is Friday. This has seemed like such a long week in part because it's been half term, but also I feel like I haven't had a chance to draw breathe since before W went to NY.

I know she is not everyone's cup of tea, but Celine Dion's performance of Hymne a l'amour from the Olympics opening ceremony is a highlight of the year for me. I love it. She's amazing.

Once again I appear to have slept through an amazing northern lights show.

I had grand plans to finish sorting my wardrobe this evening (I started this morning before work and continued throughout the day), but alas Child 1 smacked the teenager button hard today and I'm done in. It's wine and Gilmore Girls to save my sanity.

The so-called 'poppy season' in Britain is *always* highly charged. This year, it will be even more so. Please consider a white poppy, either on its own or in addition to a red poppy. It stands for three things, and has been in use for nearly a century. You can purchase a white poppy from ppu.org.uk

White poppies are worn every year by thousands of people across the UK and beyond. They were first produced in 1933 in the aftermath of the First World War, by members of the Co-operative Women's Guild. Many of these women had lost family and friends in the First World War. They wanted to hold on to the key message of Remembrance Day, ‘never again’. White poppies stand for three things.
A green icon of a wreath.
Remembrance of all victims of war, including both civilians and members of the armed forces. We remember people of all nationalities. We remember those killed in wars happening now, as well as in the past. We also remember those who are
often excluded from the mainstream,
such as refugees and victims of
colonial conflicts.
A green icon of a fighter jet, crossed out inside a circle. Challenging war and militarism, as well as any attempt to glorify or celebrate war. White poppies encourage us to question the way war is normalised and justified. They remind us of the need to resist war and its causes today.
A green icon of a white poppy inside a bold circle. A commitment to peace and to seeking nonviolent solutions to conflict. By drawing attention to the devastating human cost of war, white poppies highlight the urgency of our ongoing struggle for peace.

How is it only Tuesday? I swear the time goes more slowly when @williamkilbride.bsky.social is away in a different time zone.

Managed to spill coffee down my front. Yay me. At least it was lukewarm.

A lovely colleague told me this morning that I looked very elegant today. This is what happens when I brush my hair and make sure clothes are clean and match.
