Much of supervising PhD students is making them believe in their own research, but not quite as much as the researchers who measured amygdala activity with self-report

I don't understand the problem with this paper. The idea that people may attribute biological causes to their own psychological states is worthy of study. The authors never claim there is likely to be a correlation between them (although it would be interesting if there were). Why the mockery?

Who needs fMRI when you've got a sheet of paper with a likert scale?
