Of these only Wiley is actually an American company, a fact more important than sometimes appreciated. A question: would scholars prefer a scholar-led modest-surplus subscription model, or a commercial Open Access one, if that became the choice, certainly in the West? It's not an impossible scenario (at all), with AHSS going in one direction and STEM the other.
