I don't follow back folk who seem to have no biography. Boomer from the 40s. House in one country garden in another. Red fox Labrador owns me that is after the cats have finished. Just converted to an electric car.

Why do people give well off folk gifts?
The same reason people give gifts in general, sociologically speaking: it's bond-forming & ritualistic. Politically it makes sense to ingratiate yourself with powerful people through gift-giving, and it's a common practice between ambassadors and state heads.
Should we only ever give gifts to the poor?
