They found that these HCW had stronger, more multispecific memory T cells compared with a cohort of unexposed individuals from before the pandemic. This correlates with indications of abortive infections. The target of these cells is the RNA polymerase. 3/4

Of interest would be to use the epitopes of RNA polymerase for potential inclusion in vaccines. However, it is not clear if the reactivity is, in part, HLA-dependent. It is not clear if these T cells are the cause of abortive infections. Local immune responses may contribute. 4/4
