The crew of Mare*Go assisted the fibreglass boat for over 4h, in coordination with @sea-watch.org@alarmphone.bsky.social. Also @Nadir was on scene and supported the case. Thanks to this collaboration all people arrived in a place of safety.
Some of the life jacket have been used for a really long time! There are still some from back in the days, when MARE*GO was called SEA-WATCH 1 from the NGO @seawatchcrew 🥳🥳 A few days of training left and the crew will make its way to the SAR zone. This is the start of our three months deployment!

4/5 This boat sunk while we were with the people, fortunately we had already give lifejackets. This was a catastrophic and completely avoidable situation if people had freedom of movement. We took them on board of Mare*Go, and the Italian Coast Guard asked us to transfer
3/5 they are not alone, and we see the hardship they encounter and the resilience they have. When we finished, we decided to go for one of the positions we heard on the radio, and found another boat of people in the middle of the night alone.
