Awesome! Would love to chat with you more about these feedbacks and test whether these oxidative processes are accelerated by permafrost thaw.

My first semester teaching Geomorphology at UNM and I have an awesome class! Today we were in the field collecting data for structure from motion modeling of precariously balanced rocks in the Sandia foothills.

It's been a long time coming... first article finally published today 😌 Read on for gravel transport, bedrock erosion, and equilibrium channels, all with a fun mathematical flavor! Happy to send a PDF if you have trouble accessing this #geology#scienceonlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

A mathematical model for bedrock incision in near‐threshold gravel‐bed rivers
A mathematical model for bedrock incision in near‐threshold gravel‐bed rivers

We present a model for river profile evolution that incorporates bedrock erosion via plucking and abrasion, sediment transport and bedload loss via grain attrition. We find that we can capture alluvi....

Found an interesting scour feature while looking for the gravel sand transition… Will be taking undergrads back here during high flows in May, so will be fun to see if this gets silted in or transported downstream!

Time to submit your abstracts for Goldschmidt 2024 in Chicago, USA! Please consider submitting to session 8e: Biogeochemical Cycling in River Deltas. This session aims to highlight research on carbon, nutrient, and trace element cycling across the land-sea interface.

Advertisement for Goldschmidt 2024 session 8e: Biogeochemical cycling in river deltas. Abstracts due March 29th. Satellite images of four large river deltas (Amazon River, Mississippi River, Mackenzie River, and Gange-Brahmaputra River).
