My students research topics I propose - so I come prepared. I also keep tight control over the planning & exec of all aspects of the student project, and this can allow good data quality. But it is a commitment and timeconsuming but also rewarding: them understanding what can be learned is nice.

One of the several ways I deal with concerns related to the quality of data collected by undergraduate researchers is by having more than one student collect data for each project and then testing for an effect of experimenter. If there's an effect, then you know that something weird has happened
