I've heard that 100% represents Apple's minimum requirements for new batteries but most ship with greater capacity. A new phone might have 105% but display as 100% as it slowly degrades over charging cycles until it goes under the mark and starts to suddenly go down (weeks sound too fast tho).

Maybe even better are county jury summons, where judges ask prospective jurors about themselves. Such an amazing mix of people who don’t normally sit still together for any length of time.

"Prayer is my life," Lynette Davis tells us, and she means it—in addition to being a Quaker, she's also a member of an ecumenical community of women who have taken religious vows, and joins other sisters in formalized prayers several times a day.

Just because it’s become something of a lazy cliche doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Congratulations.

Charges against Norcross are the very opposite of tarnishing. Those of us living here know he’s been a corrupting behind-the-scenes boss. His trial, along with the imminent replacement of Menendez by Kim this fall, is the best news for clean government in a long time. www.nytimes.com/2024/06/17/n...

I feel Anil is kind of always bullishly optimistic that we’re on the cusp of a new wave of alt publishing and believe me I share his hope, but I’d love to see some examples. Distribution is hard these days. www.anildash.com/2024/06/14/t...

Ah but do chocolate chips taste better without the cookie? Cookieless chocolate chips?

"One of the core missions of a Quaker meeting is to try to speak to our members’ conditions, to answer that of God in them.… For we humans are the only agents here on earth that can serve the commonwealth of God. That’s what the meeting is for."
