Appears that Yamaguchi appeared on this year's NYT places to visit list. Morioka won it last year. I like both places very much so not being too critical but something seems a bit off. How are these lists compiled? 🤔

Sorry, I guess it would just be a little easier to see the overall left/right split (if that's the idea).

For social policy, would it not make more sense to have 'Progressive' on the right and 'Conservative' on the left of the axis. Or change the other two to Doveish-Hawkish. Either way, it would be a little less confusing!

This is a fun game, but I think the best one I discovered - after my “Old Bolshevik Lazar Kaganovich could feasibly have bought Schubert Dip by EMF (but probably didn’t)” fact - is that Nelson Mandela and the Austro-Hungarian empire coexisted for about four months

Remember it fairly well. Look what happened to the Dixie Chicks. War requires so much propaganda and mental gymnastics. If too many people stopped to really think about it, they'd find it utterly repulsive and turn against it.

They're trying to attract more international students (which is actually great as it can be educational/motivating for local students) but I suspect there will be a limit to how many people will want to come here.

Japan has a lot of universities, many private, and you wonder how they'll all survive in a country with a fast-declining population. Many won't of course, but curious as to when they'll start falling.
