Fascinated by restless first night of jetlag sleep. I was lying there at 4am unsure whether I'd been asleep or not in the last two hours, and then remembered that I'd just found two extremely sick miniature lions in a shoe-box and tried to care for them, which probably meant I had.

Left for the airport with plenty of time. Waited 1 minute for first bus then two for next bus. Almost no line for suitcase check or security. At gate 2 hours early. Now delayed for an hour. Why doesn’t this happen when I’m struggling to make it.

To make matters worse she didn’t even like zucchini but picked it because it was the easiest vegetable she could think of to draw. She wanted to be sure the teacher and her new classmates could recognize it.

When we moved to England with small children my daughter came home from school upset because the assignment was to draw your favorite vegetable and label it. The teacher had never heard of a zucchini.
