It's always wild to me when a religious person says atheists/agnostics have no innate values, because it reveals that they themselves have no moral or ethical code outside of their religion. It's like someone admitting the only thing stopping them from being a serial killer is laws against murder.
"You need religion to have a true value system" No, YOU need religion to have a true value system, you freaking psycho. I have a conscience. And it doesn't allow all the horrible things your religion allows, so it's way better, actually.
I said this to my mom when I left their faith (of course evangelicals). She was hounding me about it and I finally turned the tables. She had no response.

I remember arguing about God with someone and they asked "What prevents you from just going out and killing people?" As I opened my mouth to respond, it dawned on me that the only thing keeping this person from just killing people was their belief in God and I stopped arguing.
Entirely this. And it always (actually no, usually) seems to be the type of religious person who stops reading at whatever their faith's version of Leviticus is.
