Sort of like an evening bedroom vibe for #39 of my 2024 self-portrait challenge. #photography 📸

This is a portrait of a middle-aged Japanese man wearing a white shirt. He is wearing glasses and looking straight at the camera while his head is turned toward the right. The background is white but with a blue cast.

A recent study by the National Institutes of Health found a staggering amount of microplastics of recently deceased cadavers. The brains, however, were the biggest shock: They had 10 to 20 times more microplastics than the other organs studied.

Hard to overstate how pleased I am that the FlyWire consortium converted our FAFB ("Full Adult Fly Brain") EM volume into a connectome, and that the resulting science has been (and will be) so impactful. Thanks to everyone involved. #neurosciencewww.nature.com/immersive/d4...

Artificial intelligence and human expertise meet to generate a map of all the connections in the fly brain. The resource is already being used by experimentalists and theoreticians to further our unde...

Black shirt on black background for #37 of my 2024 self-portrait challenge. You may or may not see the subtle difference between the shirt and the background, depending on how (or whether) your display is calibrated. #photography 📷

This is a portrait of a middle-aged Japanese man wearing a black shirt in profile view. He is looking to the right. The background is black.

#36 of my 2024 self-portrait challenge. Another one loosely inspired by the movie "Blade Runner". #photography 📷

This is a portrait of a middle-aged Japanese man wearing a black shirt. He is looking straight, his head slightly turned toward the right, and his left arm is reaching forward. The background has a blue-cyan cast.

#35 of my 2024 self-portrait challenge is actually from a test shot I took before a recent headshot session for a client. (I don't always look this relaxed on the job.) #photography 📷

Here's #34 of my 2024 self-portrait challenge. Very loosely inspired by the movie "Blade Runner". #photography 📷

This is a portrait of a middle-aged Japanese man wearing a blue T-shirt. He is looking toward the upper right with his arms crossed. The photograph has an overall orange cast that is suggestive of late afternoon and/or an arid location.
