🤨 there may be some underestimation here of how hard a decentralised E2EE msging protocol is. would be good to collaborate rather than duplicate :)

I think the announcement is being misunderstood a little - they're not ruling out the idea of matrix integration, from what i can tell, just holding off on the protocol work to get DMs into the product
