Americans/“The West” somehow have a hyper sensitivity about this stuff and an absolute blasé indifference about it and the hypocrisy infuriates me because, ultimately, it comes down to imperialism. America thinks it has a right to Japanese stories.
What really bothers me is that if a bunch of white guys decided to make a video game about Native Americans without some *real hardcore efforts* to consult with them the *howls* from the press would be deafening. But it’s “just” the Ainu so they’re yassssss qween badass protagonist instead :-/
For the record I have spent years trying to learn what I can about Ainu people and culture. There is zero chance this American video game has done it. Because it’s almost impossible to learn much about it at all. Let alone have the confidence to tell a story about them.
(This is what Devolver Digital flew me over to Barcelona for - it was absolutely worth the trip and then some).
The thing is we do have very strong laws about this very specific type of data. Other data not so much. But this data hell fucking yes. What we need is for enforcement to get the fuck over the fear of being seen to “stifle innovation” and maul these pricks like a rabid dog would.
Ayup. Don’t think there is a single co-worker that I even keep contact with after wrapping up or they leave. They just become names in the background of LinkedIn.
Dancesport is never going to get another run in the Olympics. :-(
They made a joke about that in The Expendables 1, from memory. Love that Dolph is an actual bona fide smart guy.
