It sounds to me like his "you don't believe the media do you" comment is in response to the suggestion that one might use news site links posted to the site as ones news source. I don't think Musk wants people to do that, and wants them to get news directly from the site instead.

That betrays a pretty weird way of thinking--he thinks it's all about the visual aesthetic and has no idea it's about usefulness (to people who want to decide quickly whether to click the link). He is completely unaware of what Twitter is for.
