Second Damnation by Adam Blessing is one of the best pre-metal hard rock LPs. Pick one up if you see it. That bass amp is the same Kustom model that near killed me in 1989.
I'm guessing I'm a few years older than you, but the SST -> nuggets psych -> classic era hip hop -> free jazz -> blue note -> ECM path feels awfully familiar to me. If you are like me, you can obsess on all 10 at once.
