A questions for #skystorians: does anyone know the typical contents of a Naval signalman's / beach master unit's survival pack? Did it contain a garrote? Investigating the role this relative of a local family played in the Navy during the SWW.

Have they mistaken a tourniquet for a garotte? Seems a more likely thing to need on a beach under fire.
