CMS' Hospital-Acquired Condition (HAC) Reduction Program is, essentially, a financial penalty levied by the federal gov't against 🏥 that are really bad at preventing a certain set of hospital acquired infections  SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19 is not on the list.

Currently, only CLABSI, CAUTI, SSI for abd hysterectomy and colon procedures, MRSA, and CDI make up the HAI measure. (here "community based hospital" includes academic medical centers if normal hospital, but excludes special hospitals. In other words, Mass Gen is included, Mass Eye and Ear isn't)
