This is the book that finally made US foreign policy make sense to me. I was raised to believe in the 'rules-based world order', and this book makes the extremely compelling case that that 'order' has never really existed, merely being the euphemism applied to the violence of Neocolonialism.

Although the events covered in the book mostly take place in the 1960s-1980s, the pattern of subverting, attacking, and destroying any society which attempts to exist outside of US hegemony continues to this day, with many of the same strategies covered in the book still recognizably in use.
