Rewarding people for having diverse ideas was always a terrible pretense. Diversity is a path to improving our body of knowledge. It's not a goal in itself. The end result is that we reward crackpot thinking and extremism.

This is just another version of "You so-called tolerant liberals won't tolerate my Nazi views, therefore you aren't tolerant!" I thought Karl Popper explained this very well a long time ago. One more time:
