We had 4 years to deal with this. We're not a serious country. Serious countries don't let people like this stick around in politics, or society for that matter, for years. And the reason we're here is entirely due to people who swore oaths to country & Constitution failing to do their damn jobs.

I blame the federal judiciary (SCOTUS specifically) for this. Merrick Garland also should have hastened on the investigation & indictment. But don't forget, Donald & his Republican allies blocked Garland's appointment until March of 21. Since then Donald's lawyers have laid out roadblocks everywhere

Is it because they failed to live by their oaths or because they chose to support a future plutocracy where oligarchs control the global economy?

The institutions are not self-enforcing They failed in 2017-21, bc the VP & Principal Officers repeatedly violated their oaths They failed in Feb 2021, bc 43 GOP Senators violated their oaths They failed in 2024, bc 6 SCOTUS justices violated their oaths The institutions are not self-enforcing

Let's start with Garland sitting on his ass for a year hoping it all would go away. An abject coward ultimately forced by circumstances into doing something.

Neither the voters nor their candidates are serious or, you might say, honest. This never ends well.

You say "people" failed, it was *Republicans* who failed. 10 Republican Senators could have ended this forever but were cowards. Republican primary voters could have ended this. Republican SCOTUS could have, etc., etc. The entire Republican party has failed at upholding democracy. Not us.

I often think about how different the moment would be if we had a Doug Jones rather than Merrick Garland as AG.

It shows our deep seriousness by NOT doing the obvious thing bc it would be to admit that we are not a “mature robust democracy” for such a thing to happen

Top to bottom we simply can’t fathom that it could happen here.
