Friend of mine was walking with his little girl and when they came to an obstacle, he offered his hand to help her over as usual. Instead she said no, and she clasped her own hands together and stepped up over it herself. He has a photo of her holding her own hand and it's one of my fav things ever

My four year old grand niece is learning to ride a bike. She sits on the bike and gives herself a pep talk each time “You can do this Eileen. You really can”. I love her to bits
