I think well-meaning liberal media people often get baited into "debates" and dive straight into litigating complicated factual questions without spending enough time asking, "What are the people who have never engaged in good faith in the last 25+ years trying to distract me from this time?" I think this is a big part of our issues. So many well-meaning liberal people don't even understand what good and bad faith are and just assume the best of people. They'd be more radicalized if they started questioning motives and whether people want to have real conversations

Readers of these outlets then see an apparently reasoned discussion between principled actors, and presume that is all that is happening. Some will say "I don't know about that," others will spend hours reading research about bone density, others will take a step right. None will be informed. (2/2)
