It's safe now, and pretty easy to go (even as a tourist), either through Kabul/ Faizabad or directly from Tajikistan. Although if you consider going, it's worth also going to Bamiyan for Gholghola, the destroyed Buddhas, and to Kabul for Bargh e Babur, etc. Who knows for how long it will remain safe
