Just Lucy Beaumont summing up in a single sentence what I’ve spent 2 decades trying to make understood in my work: “There are plenty of people who live on council estates that go to France every year, have an organic diet and listen to Radio 4.” Exactly. Stop the othering.

How old are you in internet years without telling your age? I wrote a letter (yes letter!) to GlaxsoSmithKline suggesting they should create a website for Ribena They sent me back (in the post) 3 £1 vouchers for any GSK drink, apologising that they didn’t have plans for a webpage

Ah sorry missed your original exclusion of the inflation I still think the mounting sleaze, Johnson’s inherent foibles and an electorate venting frustrations would be enough to overcome a large but fragile majority The rise in migration would be even more directly attributed to a continuous govt

I think other sleaze issues would’ve mounted up, Patterson had a big dent before partygate Without lockdown issues, sleaze from Jenrick and Zahawi would’ve had much more cut through The desire to vent at a government for the frustrations of lockdowns and inflation would be high, even if unfair

My opinion is that Starmer always looked like someone Daily Mail readers could see as Prime Minister, even if they didn’t agree with him I think only James Cleverly has a broad appeal that opponents could view him as a reasonable PM The rest could’ve been PM if the Tories were still the government

<10% I’m not convinced any of these, except Cleverly, could be viewed as PM in 2024, and I don’t think Cleverly will win. Starmer always looked like a potential PM even if the situation wasn’t conducive, the majority of the current Tory field don’t feel like that

I will say that yes he probably will win But even to me with a BA and MSc in Politics have to think what “Supply Side reforms” actually means, suggests he may not have the ear of the common man

I’m so sorry to hear this, and I hope it is manageable for you. As a stereotypical man, I can only apologise for the things we may keep “just in case”

As someone with essentially the same view of it as you, main takeaway would be that is of essentially no significance The only people interested are us political obsessives, and none of us will remember it by Saturday let alone in a years time Sausage memes will last until Friday, that’s about it

I think Labour's biggest positional mistake, post-election* is using the words 'economic black hole', when what they actually mean is 'the public finances have been mismanaged'. *For these purposes I am ruling out 'invent time travel and don't make those pledges on national insurance
