The thing about the death penalty is you can't take it back. Marcellus Williams was killed because the governor demanded closure, but Lisha Gayle's family wanted him spared. They considered clemency closure, not execution. And now it's too late. They have to live with his death, too. Nobody wins.
I keep seeing people talk about "life outside the internet" and it's feeling kinda ableist. Not everyone is able to go outside and touch grass. Not everyone is able to maintain a job, hobbies, etc. Maybe have a little grace for those for whom online is their safest social space.
If I could have had them ink it I would have, I know they're working on being a tattoo artist! (I did consult with a deaf tattoo apprentice here in DC, but she wasn't ready for this level - I hope to get something simple from her sometime, and maybe Lennox someday!)
