I used to live in a Caribbean island called Guadeloupe. I can tell you they don't need white supremacist to control black people's hair. We do it between us and it's a real problem.

I'm from Guadeloupe myself so I'm well aware of the situation you describe, but that doesn't exornarate white supremacy in this. This is directly a consequence of white supremacy, with black folks actively conforming to it.
