I had a therapist tell me in 2016/17 that their clients were reacting to Trump's election in a similar way to 9/11. Except worse, in some ways, because there was a new trauma each day & the knowledge that the people who voted for him -those who caused said trauma - lived around you.

Also, since Medicaid is "administered" by the states, what it covers, or IF it covers, varies wildly across the US. Some basic, everyone-gets-this benefits would be terrific .... She says from MT, where the GOP threw 20K people (in a state of 1 million) off Medicaid and called it "unwinding".
Don't give away money 5 years prior to needing memory care. My Mom's decline, dementia and death spanned 8 months. Prior to that she was gardening and driving herself shopping. We need to live our golden years with a 5 year look back in mind?
A moderately reliable used car is now more like $6k-$8k ....
Or at least considered net income, after costs, rather than just a gross income. If your costs are 200k a year, the fact that you have 100k in assets is irrelevant.
