I've heard about NC more than Florida. I wonder if that's Florida is so deep there aren't photos coming out or NC had a lot of other factors in mountains that made this uniquely bad. Like mountain towns have single road to towns and also valleys.

Having ironically moved away from the mountains of NC just a few weeks ago, I can say that yeah, it's probably considered "newsworthy" because the mountains never get hit like this.
