Not trying to be all Steven Pinker here. If you have long covid (and millions of people do!) the fact that it's less severe in the population doesn't help you. We need to do way more to prevent it and winters where 50,000 people die of covid are still horrific.

A lot of epidemiologists are frustrated by the lack of air filtration upgrades to public buildings, which would also help prevent transmission of other airborne diseases.

50,000 might be far less than the initial year that was where 3 million people died worldwide. However, it is still enough to warrant some caution, especially with those most vulnerable.

i'm just not gonna be comfortable unmasking until it isn't still hitting fully vaccinated abled people i know with serious, sometimes terminal organ damage i don't actually know that many people! seems like bad odds when mine are already a lil fucked!
