A pair of ammonite fossils rests against a stone embankment in the immediate foreground left. There a boy cradles a gray tabby cat in his arms as he lays back against the larger ammonite with his eyes closed. The curve of his lower leg rests on the second fossil. Notably in the autumnal setting, he wears only black shorts and a white t-shirt. Echoes of other ammonite fossils can be seen in stone above and behind. A trail of russet leaves over damp rock leads into the graying distance as thin trees stand skeletal against hazy skies.
