I did a long thread on threads if you want to read the full rundown. 2/

Threading is difficult here, so just a note to say we have new research out in JAMA Peds examining the association between intervention amount and intervention effects in the Project AIM dataset. We did not find that greater amounts of intervention were associated with larger effects. #AutRes 1/

Intervention Amount and Outcomes for Young Autistic Children
Intervention Amount and Outcomes for Young Autistic Children

This meta-analysis investigates if the amount of intervention provided to young autistic children is associated with improved child development.

Med/pub health/quant methods: Are there dose-finding trials where different doses are treated as a continuous predictor of effect rather than categorical? Instead of comparing 5, 10, 15 mg, patients might receive a random amount between 1 & 15 and then dose is tested as a continuous predictor?

It doesn't matter if you write "Call Dad first, he is 2 min from the school and works from home" all over the form. It apparently doesn't even matter if you're a mom with traditionally masculine name, like Micheal. If the word mother is attached to a phone number, the school will call it.

Yes, if the sample was wider, there would need to be a moderator analysis. I was assuming the entire sample is limited to this subgroup in the hypothetical study.

...comparisons of common intervention approaches with children who are not yet speaking to test this question and I know for sure we have very few of those. A recently completed dissertation found that only 14/252 studies in our dataset compare theoretically distinct interventions.

I think evidence for the claim is weak in these papers but I don't know if it is based on these papers. It is possible she is referring to a finding from her own correlational data set or a paper I have not encountered bc not included in Project AIM. The kind of study we need is head to head...

Hear me out. What if we never assign anything and then we never have to grade anything? Is that something? No bad ideas in brainstorming.

Living this as a parent since we moved here with a kid who can't seem to get in a classroom with a certified teacher.
