More depression builds. Marder amd Sherman. Modded Sherman with a radial engine from a really poor quality revell P47 kit. Wasnt gonna build that kit since the molds were just too shite. Got at least some use of it. Nothing special in these other than that, some dirt practise etc. Glorious 1/72.

One of my depression builds. Had a go with "zimmerit at home" using tamiya putty and a razor saw. Surprised how good it ended up looking, but man... Too much work for the effect i think. Prolly didn't add that much to the looks after all...

Another few months of depression kicking me in the nuts, but here i am still, finishing my builds from spring 😂 Lost the original antenna, but made a new one and finally added commander like i had planned. And added some minor weathering too. Calling it done. Sorry it didnt make the group build 🙄

So umm. Any help would be appreciated: I found a 1/35 Valentine mk III kit from a local thrift store. All in one bag, no manuals. All parts seem to be there, including decals. Did some detective work and thinking it might be by RPM (ref photo) Anyone have a manual for this kit, or leads for one?

Thrift store finds, model kit of mk 3 Valentine
Decals for said kit
Reference photo from ebay of this kit. based on sprue colors and contents im thinking this is the same kit i bought without box or manual
Has same decals too.

And at least i have half a pages worth of manual this way...

This ICM Spitfire Mk.IX kit just surprised me more. It comes with extra panels if you wish to display the engine. Prolly nothing special for more seasoned model airplane builders, but this is a first for me. Also, i think i got the cockpit green fairly close to correct shade.

A question to aircraft modellers: Were the Spitfire (prolly not a Mk. specific thing, but Mk.IX in this case) underwing ejection ports always open or did they have some spring loaded covers that kept them closed when not firing/ejecting shells? Can't seem to find a clear picture of that.

Realized that the Revell kit 03324 (Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. C with Wurfrahmen 40) comes with a ton of decals you can't even see after the model is complete. Gauges and name plates for example. They work perfect in 1/48 scale planes for example. Merlin for reference.

www.amalgamcollection.com I reeeally need to rethink my life choices. 1 or 2 sales at those prices would nearly equal my yearly salary working with elevators... To be fair, I'm not talented enough. But looking at the models, i'd expect a bit cleaner finish etc on some interiors for that price. 🤔

Sorry for the spam of same object. Figured i should prolly make a single post with different phases, so... Here we go. Experimented techniques explained in alt text. ICM Spitfire Mk.IX in 1/48 I think it turned out pretty ok. But i still hate it when manufacturer doesn't provide this as a decal.

Base: Tamiya NATO black
Painted all gauges with colored frames completely.
Then added a drop of Tamiya black panel line accent in the center of each gauge to hide most of the paint under.
After all that, added Tamiya light grey panel accent to highlight gauges and switches.
Added wrong kind of green for frame, and drybrushed some white blotches in each gauge to represent readings etc. and to break the monotony.

Cleaned some gauges and highlights from previous phase
Added gloss varnish to represent glass surfaces on each gauge. Odd angle to show the reflection a bit better

I think i might be on to something here. Obviously looks messy when taking a closeup photo but from a bit more reasonable viewing distance, its not half bad. (And yes, wrong green)
