Once we nationalize education, what's to stop Republicans from defunding it or breaking it like they did with the ACA or like they keep trying to do with Social Security/Medicare?

Or the Supreme Court saying "Education is not a power vested in the federal government. Shut it all down."

And they keep trying to do with public education. I guess the only thing that's stopping them is the same thing that's always been stopping them? People who care about those programs?
