HGV drivers trying to take a detour from Orrell to Standish avoiding the M6 Northbound crash near Charnock Richard: SO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS VIA GATHURST ROAD. YOU WILL COME TO A LOW BRIDGE AT THE BOTTOM OF A VERY LONG, STEEP HILL.
The correct detour for an HGV from Orrell to Charnock Richard will be via the A577 through Wigan centre and follow the A49 to Preston.
