Is the issue with anonymous donors, as in the original post, or with donors directly endowing chairs? Hayek was funded by the Volker Fund, not anonymous donors. The Chicago donation isn’t endowing chairs. And Chicago would’ve hired Hayek without donor intervention, they’d already published Serfdom.
