I find the headline & Lianne’s claim that Te Tiriti was written to deliberately mislead highly problematic. It is an old argument & runs the danger of creating justification for ignore Te Tiriti. It also reduces Māori to the insidious myth of the “dumb noble savage” that has permeated our history.

It also negates Lord Normanby's instructions to Hobson of 'sincerity and good faith', and Lord Stanley's letter to Grey to 'honourably and scrupulously fulfil the conditions of the Treaty of Waitangi'

I agree. The premise of the article is deeply problematic.
