Ah, bummer. I had to replace an old 3-pin fan in my PC when I wanted to reduce fan noise. If it's a laptop, you're probably out of luck. For a tower, though, quiet 4-pin fans are really cheap and relatively easy to swap out. The really silent ones run $30 USD and not worth it for most people.
