I would just not run non-friendly apps, and make a fuz about it not working.
Yeah but if we just accept it, it's never going to change. Somebody needs to resist if not for anything else than symbolic value.

Which phone do i need to purchase in order to be in control of it? (i.e. some apps are blocking my ability to take screenshots ... wtf?) I know there are different communities working on liberating phones, but have not kept myself up to date, what is out there? what can you recomend?

Yea ... when en ESP32 costs 5$ it's really hard to justify spending effort on anything else ... i purchase a relativly expensive network thermometer recently and discovered that they actually wend even cheaper ... they used a 0.5$ PIC as their microcontroller 😂
Maybe not widely, but it is stil being produced today (different form-factor though) but i know of at least one new-ish product who uses it. Not allowed to share details though ... im trying to find a secondary and public source on that, but it's not easy.
