The wealthy customers who stood in line for 20 minutes for a black coffee they could've made at home and said, "God bless you for working!" didn't tip. By 2pm, there'd be less than $3 in the jar. It was their maids, nannies, and handymen who were quarantined that tipped us. I should've quit, sooner.

Despite doing everything right (Bio Sci major LOL), I got Covid from my own boss, who partied in Vegas for a 3 day weekend, maskless, while masks were mandatory and places were closed, here. She was pals with the Assistant Manager. They knew she went. No one required her to quarantine or get tested.

When the Union first sat at a table with the execs, they asked for $3 more an hour. The execs literally were like, "thanks for wasting our time", and LEFT. I couldn't afford to leave my job. I also couldn't distance from my coworkers, in that kiosk. But their wealthy customers were more important.

And let me just add that we did get a state-funded raise, but just for a couple of months. Meanwhile, we were getting sick, dying, working 3-10 times as hard because of business going up 75%/so many people not working because they were sick... And NO ONE was tipping at our Starbucks kiosk.

When I worked for a grocery store, I did the math (pre Covid, during which, their profits soared by BILLIONS), and if the CEO worked the equivalent of a 40 hour work week, they'd be making almost $4,000 an hour. They FOUGHT US getting a raise during Covid. The raise didn't come until 2022.
