i've always hated this song. 'my blood runs cold...my memories have just been sold.' like she didn't have a whole life that led to her making those choices, he's just like 'oh my god my pure memories are now tainted.'

if i buy a regionless dvd/bluray player, it'll be incumbent upon me to collect a library of bbc/masterpiece theater mini-series adaptations...ewan mcgregor and rachel weisz in a 1992 adaptation of 'the red and the black'? yes please. rufus sewell playing will ladislaw in middlemarch? sure!

The best part of certain 19th century novels is when you stumble upon a character/relationship dynamic that really catches your eye and sets your wheels turning, you can basically just steal it because you're surely not the first.

No an artist doesn't need to respect the hypothetical boundaries of hypothetical audience members. Just a very silly, consumerist, 'the customer is always right' mentality. Nevermind the fact I'm pretty sure this complaint is about a violent Tarantino movie, which adds a layer of pathetic to it all

what would possess an audiobook narrator to just do a french accent during the dialogue in this Balzac book. Like, why?

Jesus, The Red and the Black is actually so funny. Just a straight up comedy to be honest

Didn't expect The Red and the Black to start with an adulterous affair between two people whose hotness is only matched by their naive and bumbling ways, but I certainly approve.
