Pastel de nata or Pastel de Belém is a Portuguese egg custard tart pastry, and they are delicious.
This makes me miss Portugal so much. I really hope to go back so so soon
They’re so good! I used to have Portuguese neighbors downstairs and they’d always make us these or just give us the (homemade!) custard itself. I’d use the custard with Greek tsoureki (it’s a sweet bread that looks like challah but is better) and make the best bread pudding ever
I think I ate my bodyweight in Queijada de Sintra when I was there. Portuguese pastries are amazing. I'm jealous.
Miriam, Portugal is on my bucket list. Are you loving it there?
I don't drink coffee but when in Portugal having one I always wish I did.
I can't remember the brand, but there are some really good frozen ones at 99 Ranch in the US. 15 mins at 425 and it's like eating a baby angel.
I love them. It’s my rule that if I ever encounter a Portuguese bakery, I must buy some. There are no Portuguese bakeries for over 260 km :(
Going to Portugal for the first time in just over a week, will add this to the list of goals 🙂
bom día! Looks yummy!
