#Bestof2024 Soloist Janine Jansen with Makela leading the Oslo Philharmonic. My top choice at the moment. The Sibelius is wonderful. The Prokofiev is astonishing!
Classic!
If you would like to listen to a fresh reading of Vivaldi: The Four Seasons, give Dutch violinist Janine Jansen a spin. This recording from 2005 features a stripped-down ensemble of 8 including her brother and father. @annsalo.bsky.social@dancingmonk.bsky.social@loveinner.bsky.social
Nice selections
Doing the Boss- a- Nova...wrapped up like a ...what? and something about a hat...Manfred's version is better than the original, but still makes little sense.
His attitude notwithstanding, he is a towering talent. I really enjoy his recordings with Charles Lloyd from the 60's. But I think my favorites are his ECM dates with Garbarek/Danielsson/Christensen. He still owes me $50 + interest.
ca. 1971 Melanie Safka "Gather Me"...it's been 2 years since Meher Baba "dropped the body" and almost 2 years past Woodstock and Melanie hits her stride.
I love those post-Fairport albums. I highly recommend Plainsong "Following Amelia" the "In Search of Amelia Earhart" Box Set.
